When you take the hard drive to a company that specializes in hard drive shedding, they will destroy the platter in the hard drive because that is where the data is stored. The hard drive will be shredded into miniscule particles. This hard drives data bits will not be destroyed by overwriting them with other data many times or by re-formatting. The hard drive shredder destroys them physically. There are some programs called hard drive shredding utilities that claim the data is overwritten several times with nonsense that the original data is unreadable. Some computer experts, or hackers, state that they could recover the original data even after using the utility. This could even happen if the overwriting was done over a hundred times. Even if you drilled holes in the hard drive does not always work because there are some tracks, or plates with data that will remain un-severed unless you take the time to drill hundreds of holes.
The project began in Grundy County Iowa and spread to other communities. One very popular area is Sac County, Iowa. There are 55 barn quilts and 19 community quilts across Sac County, located in west-central Iowa. The museum honoring the birthplace of crooner Andy Williams hosts one of Sac County's community quilts. The quilt block there, "Mother's Choice," was painted by Jackson's 4-H club.
Bring your paperwork - Shelters like to make sure that when someone comes to adopt a pet they are doing so with the best intentions for the animal and are prepared for the commitment. Make sure to have a photo ID with you and your current address. If you're a renter, some shelters may require that you have a copy of your lease agreement or written permission from your landlord that you are allowed to have pets. These precautions help ensure that the pet is moving into a lasting and stable environment instead of an impulse adoption that will end up on their doorstep in a week or two again.
