I have met a few bankers over the years and one or two politicians and they are human beings like the rest of us. As individuals many earn considerable sums of money, are involved in a lot of philanthropic activities and give generously. In that respect many deserve credit. But the organisations in which they work often do not reflect the same human characteristics or behaviour in their day to day activities and when they get it wrong it is everyone else that suffers.
If you own a small garden and want a cheap small shed, then there are a few types of small sheds obtainable at very realistic prices; These include corner sheds, which fit into a corner 3 tall x 3 wide x 2 deep, vertical sheds (5 tall x 3 wide x 4 deep), horizontal sheds (3 tall x 5 wide x 4 deep) and tool sheds. If you are using your shed for tool storage, then you may need to think about adding some shelves and hooks to increase your storage space. Some other shed styles that you might like to think about include Gambrel-style roofed sheds, comparable to the Dutch-style barn! And these exhibit a high sloping roofline which increases the storage space in the 'loft'. Another style of small cheap shed is the saltbox-style shed. No matter what style you decide and for whatever purpose, Im sure you will have many happy years of enjoyment with your new garden shed. When we first decided to buy an old horse ranch and turn it into a boarding stable, people told us we were nuts. Of course, we discovered that they were right. When we announce that our stable would use only holistic nutrition and care approaches - we were told that it couldnt be done, no one would pay the added costs. Here, the voices were wrong. Increasingly, we are being sought out specifically because we choose to offer a different standard of care.
Make sure the shelter will not flood The back of the shelter should face the prevailing wind Make sure the shelter is far enough away for gates and fences Ensure the shelter is large enough to allow all horses using it to stand or lay comfortably Make sure it is wide enough that a dominant, pushy horse cannot keep the other horses from entering. When determining the size of the shelter, it's best to go wider, not deeper. Again, keep the dominant horse in mind. If at all possible, design the run-in so that each horse has at least a 10' x 10' space If workable, use a portable shed so that it can be rotated to different locations Especially if it will be a permanent shed, ensure its opening is large enough to use a tractor bucket for cleaning Make sure the ceiling is no less than 8 feet high at its lowest point. If you leave the floor earth, be prepared to periodically replace dirt removed during manure removal. If the floor is made of concrete or other flooring you will need to place mats down, which will require regularly removing the mats and cleaning them. Place an eaves trough over the entrance to prevent icy patches in the opening. A horse can slip and be injured. Always make sure there are no protruding nails, screws, metal, or anything else that a horse could be cut on. Make sure the structure is built sturdy withstand heavy snow (if you live in an area that gets heavy snows), winds and a horse's kicking feet! Make sure the roof if it is a shed or lean-to style leans away from the entrance so that snow and rain runs to the outside back of the structure.
In this step you will have to draft up some shed plans. You could draw up your own plans or maybe you can get someone to do this for free. Your plans will have to include a list of materials. It would be good if you had a step by step set of plans. You can get step by step plans on the internet if you do your research.
